Working Meeting with the Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
															On March 16, General Representation of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Ukraine hosted a working meeting between members of the Government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
At the meeting, Akhmed Zakayev, Prime Minister; and Inal Sherip, Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed with Oleh Dunda, Ukrainian MP from Dnipro region representing the Servant of the People party and Co-Chairman of the interfactional parliamentary group “For the Decolonization of Russia”; Maria Mezentseva, Ukrainian MP from Kharkiv region representing the Servant of the People party and Chairperson of the Ukrainian Permanent Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Numerous topics pertaining to the relationship between Ukraine and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria were covered at the discussion, along with the potential for strengthening international cooperation. Discussions of potential efforts to promote the decolonization processes of the peoples under the influence of the modern Russian Federation, as well as methods of closer cooperation with the European Parliament, were among the main topics of the discussions.
The need of combining efforts in the areas of international politics, democratic reform, and peoples’ rights to self-determination was underlined by both parties. The productive setting of the meeting showed a high degree of understanding between the parties and a willingness to work together going forward.
At the end of the meeting, the both sides expressed confidence in the need to continue the dialog and implement joint initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy, freedom and independence of the peoples struggling against Russia’s imperial policy.
